Cancer Sucks!

My stepmother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last month. After a million tests to see if the cancer had spread and a lovely port put in her chest wall, she began her journey of chemotherapy last Tuesday.
I'd like to tell you all is well. I'd like to tell you that she's feeling great. Cancer sucks. If you could send some positive thoughts to the good state of Maine, please please do.
My stepmother is an amazing woman. She's not only the caretaker of my elderly father, but she is also one of my best friends.
She has been with my father for 19 years and she saw me through my later teen years and really helped shape my life. She's cried with me, listened to me, and encouraged me to do things I never thought I was capable of. She has always believed in me and she has always loved me and I did some pretty stupid things as a teen.
I talk with her every day now, most times 2X's per day. She is sick; the chemo is wreaking havoc on her body. She has so many of the classic symptoms and her body is just being attacked by the drugs that are killing cancer cells.
Only to know that after chemo is a mastectomy to look forward to. Following that more chemo and radiation.
Looking at her she has more ambition and energy then I do most days. So to see her down is very hard. She never felt sick and a routine mammogram found her with Stage III Breast cancer. Get your mammograms done ladies.
Peace to all!
